The Linden Schools
After Care program runs from the end of the school day until
5:45 p.m., for students in grades 1-6. After Care is
so popular with our girls that when their parents come to
pick them up, they often want to stay a little longer!
Amy Roth, our After Care supervisor, runs
a fun, active and varied program for our girls. To help you
get to know her and the program a little better, Amy has provided
the following description of her background and approach to
After Care:
I bring eight years of working experience
in the camp setting to my role as After Care supervisor, as
well as an extensive background in child development, studying
in the Child, Youth and Family program at the University of
Guelph. In After Care, I strive to provide a warm, welcoming
space after school that is safe and fun where the girls can
unwind after a full day of classes.
Every day in After Care, we have a
nutritious snack that always involves fresh fruits or vegetables.
Once the girls have finished their snack, we start the activity
for the day, which I work collaboratively with the girls to
plan; I also have in place a rotating schedule of activities
so that all of the girls get a chance to try them, as not
all students are in After Care every day. Some of our favourite
activities include playing dodgeball in the gym, having fun
at the playground, putting on talent shows, going on scavenger
hunts, making crafts, playing games and getting an early start
on homework.
